Between a Life and Another One
The Ga (an ethnic group from Greater Accra, Ghana), organize sumptuous funerals to commemorate the “Asafoatse”, captains of war who are responsible for the territory’s protection and its clan order. The embalmed Asafoatse’s body, initially welcomes the grieving visitors standing up, then it is placed into a rifle shaped coffin. After having been submitted to rituals, the coffin is transported to the cemetery where only an elite few may attend the final burial.
